Daytint — Privacy Policy

Daytint is a personal mood journal developed by Matteo Cavalluzzo ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and why. Questions? Email mcavalluzzo.apps@gmail.com.

The short version

• Daytint works offline and keeps your journal on your device.
• Creating an account is optional. If you do, your entries are backed up and synced across your devices.
• No ads. No analytics or tracking. We never sell or share your data.
• You can permanently delete your account and its cloud data from inside the app.

What we collect and why

• Your journal content — mood ratings, notes, category ratings, and dates you enter. Stored locally on your device. If you sign in, a copy is also stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your account so it can be backed up and synced to your other devices.
• Account information — only if you choose to create an account. With email sign-up we store your email address; with Google sign-in we receive your email address, name, and basic Google profile information. This is used solely to sign you in and associate your synced journal with you. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.
• Crash reports and diagnostics — if the app crashes or a sync operation fails, a technical report (stack trace, device model, OS version, app version) is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. Crash reports never include your journal content, notes, or ratings.

What we do NOT do

• No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
• No analytics, tracking, or profiling SDKs. Crash reporting (above) is the only diagnostics we collect, and it contains no journal content.
• No collection of your location, contacts, or files.
• No selling or sharing of your data with third parties for their own use.

How your data is stored and protected

• Data on your device stays on your device.
• Synced data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Security rules restrict every record so it is readable and writable only by the signed-in account that owns it.

Third-party services

Daytint uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Crashlytics) as its backend to provide optional sign-in, sync, and crash reporting. Data you sync is processed and stored on Google's infrastructure and is subject to Google's Firebase privacy and security terms. We do not use any other third-party data processors.

Deleting your data

• Individual entries: delete any day from within the app.
• Local data: clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
• Your account and all cloud data: open Settings → Delete account in the app. This permanently removes your account and everything backed up to the cloud. You may also request deletion by emailing mcavalluzzo.apps@gmail.com.

Children

Daytint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
